Home Maintenance Advice from ASI

After moving into your new home, these are some maintenance and safety issues that should be dealt with immediately:
  • Have the locks re-keyed
  • Check the windows and make sure all the window hardware is functioning properly
  • Install smoke detectors on each level of the home and outside sleeping areas. Check/replace all batteries in smoke detectors
  • Have all chimneys inspected and serviced before operating any of the gas fireplace appliances
  • Check the interior and exterior for tripping hazards
  • Review your inspection report for any suggested upgrades to improve the safety of your property
  • Every member of the family should know where to find the main shut-offs for the plumbing, heating, and electrical systems. Make sure the necessary tools are present for turning off the mains. Ex: a wrench for the gas meter
